Russell LeRoy Thompson, age 84, of the Hilltop, passed away on May 11, 2019 at Mount Carmel East. Russ was born February 26, 1935 to the late Charles Roy and Vinie (Wyne) Thompson in Carroll, OH. He graduated from Pickerington Hight School and then served in the US Army. Russ is a life-time member of Moose Lodge #955, a member of VFW Post 4044, American Legion #532, Teamsters #284 and #413. Russ loved gardening, cooking, fishing at Rice Lake and cross-word puzzles. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sarah Cherry (Cannon) Thompson; sons, John (Colleen)Thompson, Jim (Darlene)Thompson; grandchildren, Ryan (Andrea) Thompson, Kevin (Tracy) Thompson, Erin (James) Difley; great-grandchildren, Luke, Ava and Isabelle Thompson and Callum Diffley; sisters, Rosie (Bill) Barrett, Mary (Max) Thomas, Freda Marshall, Judy Jensen; sister-in-law, Donna Thompson; and many nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur, George, Butch, and Dale Thompson; sisters, Lena Black, Bessie Martin, Fanny Miller, Alta Parker. A Visitation will be held FRIDAY, May 17, 2019, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the PFEIFER FUNERAL HOME, where is funeral will immediately follow at 1 PM, with Rev. Dr. Stephen Swisher officiating. Burial with honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Russell's memory to the Holy Family Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry, 57 South Grubb Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
