John Harvey Collins, age 68, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio passed away peacefully with his loving wife of 24 years at his side on September 14, 2022.
John was born September 19, 1953, to the late John T. Collins and Nancy (Owens) Riley. John grew up in his birthplace of Huntington, West Virginia. He enjoyed his summers as a young boy at his grandpa and grandma Nellie's farm in Kentucky, where his love of fishing began.
John graduated from Fairland High School in Proctorville, Ohio in 1971. He served in the U.S. Army from December 1971 until December 1973. He served as an Army Specialist 4 and participated proudly on the Berlin Sharpshooters.
John loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. If it involved the outdoors you could count John in. John was an avid Marshall University Thundering Herd football fan. John worked for many years as a construction worker, performing various trades. He participated in the construction of the famous Longaberger Basket Office building in Newark, Ohio. He was a faithful, devoted, kind and caring husband, father and papaw. He firmly believed in God as his savior and lived accordingly. John will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to know him.
John is survived by his loving wife, Carol Collins; daughters, Stephanie (Shane) DeGraffinreed, Nancy Collins, Kristen (David) Eddy; sons, Brett Collins, Eric Dutcher; grandchildren, Kayla, Deuce, Jonica, Connor, Kaitlyn and Abaigail; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jeff (Brenda) Collins, Kimber (Sheri) Cady and many dear friends.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Monday, September 19, 2022 and from 11 am - 12pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Pfeifer Funeral Home in Reynoldsburg. Johns funeral service will follow the visitation at 12Noon with Rev. Bill Hayes officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Pataskala Cemtery.
