Keum Ran (Shin) Choi

Keum Ran Choi, age 86, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, passed away on January 16, 2023 at The Inn At Summit Trail. Keum Ran was born October 20, 1936 in South Korea. She graduated from Seoul National University School of Music and after graduating taught high school music until moving to the United States to join her husband as he completed seminary in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

She will be remembered for her beautiful soprano voice, her kindness, her feisty sense of humor, her love of college football and her great Korean cooking. She loved spending time with and overfeeding her four grandsons.

She was a member of Parkview Presbyterian Church, Korean Presbyterian Church of Metro Detroit where her husband served as pastor, and most recently she was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church.

Keum Ran is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Dr. In Soon Choi; daughters Laura Otani (husband Terry Otani and their sons Drew and Davis) Joyce Peji (husband Laurence Peji and their sons Nicholas and Nathan).

She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

The family will receive friends and relatives on SATURDAY January 21, from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Unity Presbyterian Church, 6969 E Livingston Ave., Reynoldsburg, OH. 43068. A Memorial Service will follow immediately after at 12 PM at the church, with Rev. Joon Lee officiating.
