Kitty Lee (Watkins) Rogers Whaley, age 101, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, passed away on January 18, 2023 at The Inn at Summit Trail. Kitty was born January 5, 1922 to the late Nelson and Roxie (Spaid) Watkins in Derwent, Ohio.
She graduated from North High School and attended Columbus School of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio. She painted photographs for various studios before colored photos became popular and did the lettering on High School Senior pictures in the Columbus area.
She was a member of Ohio Eastern Star for 50 years, with dual membership in Chillicothe Chapter #419 and Pataskala Chapter #235, and a previous member of Heath Chapter #551. She was the organist for 46 years for various chapters and played the piano for the Rotary Club in Chillicothe, Ohio. She was an avid bowler into her 80's. She loved traveling, especially to the Holy Land, Alaska, and Hawaii. She was a member of Neil Avenue United Methodist Church, Newark, Ohio.
Kitty is survived by her loving daughters: Mary Lou Stakely, Lesley (Larry) Goble, and Dona (Joe) Marks; her grandchildren Barb (Don) Wilbur, Bob (Chris) Stakely, Brian (Carla) Stakely, Andy (Sandy) Stakely, Karen (John) Thompson, Chuck (Brenda) Stakely, Jason (Sue) Goble, Diana (Travis) Otten, and Joe (Angie) Marks; 34 great grandchildren and 38 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Phyllis Watkins, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Roxie Watkins; husbands, Leslie C. Rogers and H. Dale Whaley; sisters and their husbands, Vivian (Eddie) Walsh, Lillian (Bill) Zack, brother David Watkins, sisters-in-law and their husbands, Mary Virginia (Ralph) Bower and Margaret (Michael) Kostival; brothers-in-law and their wives, Ned (Jane) Rogers and Frederick (Alice) Whaley; son-in-law Ed (Fuzz) Stakely, granddaughters Beth Ann Stakely, Tammy Marks Jordan, and Allison Goble Matthews.
Visitation will be held on WEDNESDAY, January 25, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Pfeifer Funeral Home, 7915 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, Ohio 43068. An Eastern Star Service will be held at 6:15 PM followed by the Funeral Service at 6:30 PM with Pastor Eva Marie Wolfe officiating.
