Nancy Ellen Bowling

Nancy Ellen Bowling of Blacklick, OH, passed away on April 23, 2023, surrounded by family. She was born in Ironton, OH on May 18, 1957, to the late Glenn and Patricia (Queen) Bowling. She is survived by her husband Rick Pittaway, her brother Wesley (Lynnie) Bowling, nephews Jake (Rachel), Jared (Andrea), and Josh Bowling, stepdaughter Catie (Scott) Walsh and stepson Mark (Stephanie) Pittaway. She is also survived by grandchildren Amara and Kai Walsh, and great nieces Blake, Azul and Presley Bowling and great nephew Jack Bowling.
Nancy was a 1975 Ironton H.S. graduate, held an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene from Shawnee State University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Otterbein University. Nancy was a dental hygienist in Reynoldsburg for over 40 years and was a past president of the Columbus Dental Hygienist Association. She did these things because she loved her patients and was always striving to learn more in order to give her patients the very best care.
Nancy was an adventurous free spirit. She loved to scuba dive, ski, and travel the world. She visited six continents, saw the tulips blooming in Holland and the lavender blooming in France, and visited the terra cotta warriors in China. As a Docent for the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, she taught zoo visitors about our world, most especially in the aquarium. She traveled to the Maldives in the Indian Ocean just to understand the aquarium better. Her patients never tired of her stories.
At the same time, she was an avid gardener, and celebrator of all holidays. She loved being around friends and family and sharing laughter. She was an influencer before the term influencer was invented. Above all, she loved being a Grammy to any child who needed a Grammy. She had a positive impact on our lives. This will continue.
