Theresa "Terry" Radzewich passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Thursday, June 10, at the age of 89. She died on her own terms and on her own timeline, precisely how she lived her life. Terry was born in Kearny, New Jersey, and was raised in East Hanover, New Jersey. After graduating from Florham Park High School in 1950, Terry attended Rutgers University. Terry then entered the world of banking in New York City, where she was not only one of the first females to attend the American Banking Institute, she also finished at the top of her class. This launched a 50-plus year career in the savings and loan industry, where Terry continued to make her mark as one of the first female branch managers of Franklin Savings Bank. She continued on with Franklin Savings as it became Republic National Bank and then ultimately HSBC. She retired from HSBC at the age of 74 and relocated from New York City to Columbus, Ohio, to live near family. Terry's passions in life were classic movies, cultural institutions from museums to live theater, travel, good food and fine restaurants, and Haagen Dazs ice cream. The joys of her life were her family, especially her mother and all her nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Terry is preceded in death by her parents, Vera (Olawski) and Joseph Radzewich; brother, Joey Radzewich; and sister-in-law, Peggy Radzewich. She is survived by her brother, John Radzewich; sister, Wanda (Bill) Harvey; nieces and nephews, Michael (Erin) Sinoway, Linda Sinoway (Doug Kelly), Douglas Sinoway, Catherine (Ed) Gillan, Laura (Paul) Souyoultzis, and Sue (Jack) Gee; and grand nieces and nephews, Rebecca Sinoway, Alex Sinoway, Jack Kelly, Rachel Kelly, Aiden Souyoultzis, Emily Gee, Mikel Gee, and Liam Gillan. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you continue a 57-year old tradition that Terry started when her first nephew Michael was born, and that is to always give books to children as gifts. As Terry reminded us yearly, "A book is a gift a child can open over and over again." Terry's internment is being held on Tuesday, June 15, at 12:00pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens at 5600 East Broad St, Columbus, OH, 43213, in the back north-west section of the grounds. You will find us under a beautiful shade tree in the dappled sunshine, Terry's preferred choice of seating on many a peaceful Northern Jersey summer afternoon. All are welcome.
